The Flocon Vert label, which can be translated at Green Snow flake, recognises mountain resorts that are committed to sustainable development. By being awarded this label, the resorts commit to respecting a number of criteria to ensure the protection of their environment. Thanks to this initiative, you can choose a destination that combines the enjoyment of a holiday in the open air with respect for the environment!

What is the Flocon Vert label?

Created in 2011 by the Mountain Riders educational association which campaigns for ecological change in the mountains, the aim of Flocon Vert is to recognise and promote tourist destinations with a sustainable development policy.

How are the resorts labelled?

A Flocon Vert resort is one that is totally committed to sustainable development!

The resort’s stakeholders (Town hall, ski lifts and Tourist Office) take part in workshops run by Mountain Riders to find out more about the label, the procedures to follow and how to get everyone on board. Afterwards, an assessment and audit are carried out (externally) to provide the labelling committee with all the necessary information so that they can decide whether to award the labels.

More than just a certification, it is a long-term commitment between the resort and the label.

Why choose a Flocon Vert-labelled resort?

With its breath-taking scenery, well-known health benefits and endless opportunities to get away from it all, the mountains have long offered a winning combination to visitors. But the mountains also need to be taken care of! Protecting our mountains and our heritage is more important now than ever.

With the Flocon Vert label, you can choose your mountain destination based on reliable environmental and social criteria, opting for a resort that, like you, is committed to protecting its environment.

One label, 20 eco-responsible commitments!

The Flocon Vert label is based on 20 strict criteria regarding energy and wastewater management, as well as the protection of natural areas, whilst raising awareness and providing information to the various mountain stakeholders.

With a Flocon Vert-labelled resort you are sure to choose a resort that:

  • Actively encourages others to protect the environment
  • Strives to implement sustainable and inclusive developments
  • Protects the quality of natural settings and landscapes
  • Promotes sustainable transport to get to and get around the resort
  • Supports and showcases local producers
  • Promotes tourism that is accessible to all
  • Protects and showcases its local heritage
