2018 Mountain activities

In France, skiing is also available in summer! On the alpine glaciers, ski lifts and runs actually stay open for a good chunk of the summer, giving skiers who just can’t get enough the chance to experience skiing in a completely new atmosphere!

Skiers, get your t-shirts on!

Contrary to popular belief, there’s no need to forget all about the joys of skiing after April. The glaciers in Les Deux Alpes, Tignes and Val d'Isère welcome skiers and offer a joyous contrast between the summer atmosphere and “winter sports”. From the morning, skiers can pile onto ski lifts and carry out descent after descent until the early afternoon, on snow which was groomed that morning, meaning it gets softer and nicer to ski on by the hour. Summer skiing on French glaciers also comes with several other little treats: enjoy the summer sunshine on a terrace or party with a whole range of entertainment, concerts and DJ sets.
As well as the snowsports enthusiasts skiing to their heart’s content, and the sunbathers on the terrace, freestylers can also have a field day thanks to the buzzing snowparks (music, entertainment, courses). And in the afternoon, when the ski runs have closed, your holiday can keep going thanks to the number of other, more summery activities taking place in the resort!

Les Deux Alpes
Home to the largest skiable glacier in Europe, Les Deux Alpes in the Isère region, is a summer skiing must. Discover 90 hectares of groomed runs, a renowned snowpark, and breath-taking panoramic views of the Meije and Ecrins mountain ranges.
Open from the 23rd of June to the 26th of August 2018, from 7am to 12.30pm.

Val d'Isère
Legendary resort that it is, Val d'Isère also has a glacier open in the summer - the Pisaillas glacier. A Val d’Isère tradition that goes back many years, summer skiing lets you extend the joys of snowsports while discovering breath-taking landscapes. This year, the skiing starts even earlier on the Bellevarde massif thanks to the excellent snowfall.
Open from the 3rd of June to the 13th of July 2018, from 7am to 12pm.

Tignes
At an altitude of 3,000 metres, the Grande Motte glacier offers 20 kilometres of ski runs, 12 ski lifts and a snowpark, and is also accessible to pedestrians. Open from the 23rd of June to the 5th of August 2018, from 6.30am to 5pm.
