Discovery walks

Walking is not an end in itself -it is a way of discovering fauna, flora and cultural heritage. At Méribel, a night-time walk to the refuge de la Traye enables you to hear animal noises. The Louron valley (Hautes-Pyrenees) has 100 km of trails indicated by flash codes. The historical heritage of the Oisans is told in poetry by the guide, Angelina Galvani, at Mont-de-Lans.Last but not least, the gourmets will be tempted by “gathering” walks (mushrooms, fruit, herbs…) to literally put your feet into the plate!

Sporting walks

At La Plagne or Les Contamines, experienced walkers can go on reconnaissance on the routes of mythical trail races such as the 6000D or the Mont Blanc Ultra Trail.Nordic walking, using walking poles is ideal for working out the upper part of your body.  Afghan walking, based on synchronising your movements and breathing, enables you to better oxygenate your body and thus travel long distances.

Well-being walks

Some forms of walking are better than others to relax. One of these is awareness walking, which consists of moving your attention over different parts of the body to attain deep relaxation.Hikes on this theme are organised, in particular, in the Jura (http://www.enpleinenature.fr/).Barefoot walks are, as their name suggests, carried out without shoes in the undergrowth. Finally, the “walk and fast” combines hiking and water fasting (where you only drink vegetable broth) over several days.A must to clear your mind!

Walking with children

There is nothing better than a treasure hunt to encourage children to walk!Geocaching, carried out at Les Saisies, consists of going out with a GPS and a series of enigmas to be solved.Another option is hiking accompanied by a llama or a dog.
