The Michelin Guide France 2018 has recently released its latest additions: the French mountains are home to an amazing 21 Michelin-starred restaurants in resorts from the Vosges to the Southern Alps.
In the Aravis mountain range, Marc Veyrat’s La Maison des Bois has been awarded the ultimate distinction of 3 stars. The alpine resorts now total some 20 Michelin-starred restaurants in the prestigious guide.
3 stars for Marc Veyrat’s restaurant
A Relais & Château restaurant run by Marc Veyrat in the village of Manigod (Les Aravis mountain range), La Maison des Bois has just been awarded 3 stars by the Michelin Guide 2018. The red guide can’t speak highly enough of Marc Veyrat’s cuisine that celebrates local nature: «He’s as creative as can be, playing on flavours and textures, celebrating loval nature (flowers, mountain herbs…) in a mineral and pastoral spread.
Alongside Marc Veyrat, the Flocons de Sel restaurant in Megève, La Bouitte in Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and le 1947 in Courchevel have all maintained their 3-star status.
21 Michelin-starred restaurants in ski resorts
There are a total of 21 Michelin-starred restaurants based in ski resorts; 20 in the Alps and 1 in the Vosges. 4 restaurants now boast 3-star status in the red guide, whilst 6 have achieved 2 stars and 11 have 1 star.
