2018 Family

Taking your little one on a ski holiday isn’t a problem, as long as you follow a few basic rules (common sense). Read on to discover our top tips for going skiing with your baby.

Child-friendly infrastructures and facilities so you can enjoy your holiday with total peace of mind

The Famille Plus resorts provide free childcare equipment including cots, high chairs, changing mats and beds for children of all ages. Pushchairs and bottle warmers are also available to hire, so you don’t need to bring all of your equipment from home and worry about excess baggage! Relax and recharge your batteries, the resorts will do the rest! With child-care facilities and family-friendly restaurants and accommodation, Famille Plus resorts offer you the warmest of welcomes.
Most of the resort infrastructures offer pushchair access, as well as baby changing rooms and kid-friendly public toilets.
And last but certainly not least, the Famille Plus labelled resorts all provide a nearby medical service and pharmacy.

A child-care centre for your little ones

Nurseries and crèches are on hand to take care of your children from the age of 18 months to 6 years. They offer many different indoor and outdoor activities, welcoming your children for the whole day or for ½ a day (morning or afternoon) with or without lunch, whilst you enjoy the slopes with peace of mind. They can also ski in the morning in the ski kindergarten and spend the afternoon in the child-care centre having a well-earned rest. Make sure you book before you arrive in resort. A handy solution wouldn’t you agree… ?!

How about learning to ski?

From the age of 3, your children can give snowsports a go under the attentive eye of the ski kindergarten instructor. Mini-drag lifts, magic carpets, shaped runs, inflatables, snow castles and colourful mascots are just a few things your little ones will discover as they learn to ski whilst having fun in a safe environment. And if they don’t fancy donning skis, how about a fun toboggan descent?!

Activities baby will love

Getting up close with nature, a walk with the pushchair, discovering the snow… a stay in the mountains is the perfect opportunity to develop your child’s curiosity and imagination.
Fancy a slide in the snow? Then head to the toboggan run for the under 6s only! Whether you go to Châtel, Les 2 Alpes, Morzine or Valberg, this area is reserved for little ones only, so there’s no danger of them being knocked over by the older kids. Ready, steady, slide…in safety and in total freedom!

From the age of 1: discover baby-snow, a mini snowboard with handlebars: kids can have their first taste of snowsports fun pushed along by an adult on skis!
Make the most of your stay in the mountains to take your little one to meet the local animals: husky dogs and horses used for ski-joëring - they’ll love it!
In need of a quiet moment? Why not borrow one of the pushchairs available in many of the resorts such as La Clusaz or Villard de Lans / Corrençon and enjoy a family walk together.

If you want to get back in the warm, head to the library like the one in Font Romeu, the games library la ludothèque (Les Carroz d’Araches, Saint Gervais Mont-Blanc… ), the games room or the swimming pool and paddling pool (Le Corbier, Sauze Supersauze, Vaujany).

Make sure you check the entertainment and activities programme. With something to suit all ages, they set the pace in resort throughout the season: with puppet shows and storytelling sessions, the resorts bend over backwards to keep your little ones entertained.

To round things off, how about a romantic dinner just the two of you? Discover «Resto en duo» in Praloup: a free child-care session while you have dinner! Life’s pretty good in the Famille Plus resorts, wouldn’t you agree?

Special family rates

The Famille Plus labelled resorts have set up a specific family-friendly pricing policy: free ski passes for the under 5s, cross-country ski trails free up to the age of 6, «family» accommodation packages including free breakfast for kids, children under 2 go free, child rates up to the age of 12 with most Famille Plus labelled resort service providers …. Regardless of your family type (blended, transgenerational, extended…), make the most of the family pricing policy. Find out more before you go!
