2024 Family

To make the mountains more accessible to parents with young children, “stroller hiking” itineraries are becoming increasingly popular in Family Plus resorts. Practical and fun, they're the ideal way to enjoy a family outing without the hassle!

Of course, you can always take your child for a ride in a special backpack. But parents' backs don't always appreciate it! Some resorts have therefore created nature trails accessible with baby carriages, where parents can stroll in peace and quiet. When necessary, you can hire an all-terrain stroller. Here's a selection of family-friendly itineraries with stroller access.

The contemplative stroller ride

Praz-sur-Arly (Haute-Savoie) has three such itineraries. Two are suitable for all strollers, and the third is reserved for 4x4 strollers (available for hire from the resort's sports stores). The Arly circuit, marked in blue, follows the Arly river for around 30 minutes. The Plaine des Belles circuit, marked in yellow, is more urban: a 40-minute loop passing close to a playground. Finally, the Cassioz walk, marked in green, takes you to the beautiful hamlet of Cassioz and back in 1h15.

In Morzine, in the Parc des Dérêches, an unspoilt island right in the center of the village, you can take your stroller for a stroll along wide paths without any difficulty. For parents wishing to travel light, the resort's sports stores offer 3-wheeled baby carriages for hire. A children's playground adds a playful touch to the stroll for the little ones, before they embark on the pleasures of accrobranche (mini-course from age 2) and horseback riding (pony rides from age 3). The Parc des Dérêches also boasts a number of benches and tables for a short break or snack in the heart of nature.

In Orres, (Hautes-Alpes), all-terrain baby carriages can be hired for €5 from the tourist office. In all, there are four stroller-friendly itineraries to enjoy nature with the whole family. We recommend the Méale walk for its breathtaking views over Lac de Serre-Ponçon.

The Rondes des Cascades in the Sancy massif is an ideal family walk, leading to two beautiful waterfalls.

In the Val d'Arly, Crest-Voland-Cohennoz, five stroller-friendly walks are offered by the tourist office. Ranging in length from 45 minutes to 2 hours, the walks offer a variety of viewpoints from which to discover the different villages and hamlets in the area.

Finally, at the Alpe du Grand Serre, in Isère, waterfalls, natural cirques, torrents and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains await hikers with strollers on the resort's five “rando-poussette” circuits.

The fun stroller ride

In La Bresse (Vosges), the Basse des Feignes walk is accessible to all types of stroller. Lasting around an hour, it is signposted with a green elf sitting in a stroller. Its starting point, the Auberge du  Couchetat,is a big hit with children: it's a llama farm that can be visited!

In Saint-François Longchamp, the Chemin pastoral des Inversaires, a “comfort walk”, is a fun trail that can be walked with a stroller, allowing you to admire an unusual landscape with fairy chimneys!

On the Vercors side, 55 km of itineraries link the various resorts on the plateau, such as Villard-de-Lans-Corrençon. Accessible by stroller or bike, children can enjoy a range of fun activities along the way, including games, peak viewers and bird nesting boxes...
