2020 Health and well-being

This winter, healthy is trendy. We eat well, we eat local, and we look after ourselves. And what could be better than the pure mountain air to bring fulfilment of body and spirit? If you need any help finding useful addresses, here are some suggestions of places that are healthy, right up-to-date, and which could invigorate all your senses!

In Les Gets, Jo and Mark of the Wild Beets Kitchen restaurant propose a vegan cuisine based around carefully-selected, fresh and healthy ingredients.

In Brides-les-Bains, most of the 13 restaurants that carry the label “dietetic” will this winter offer dishes that are both delicious and healthy, under the “Cuisine Equilibre et Gourmandise” label. Examples are the tartiflette-style potatoes from the Hotel Athéna, or the updated version of the classic cassoulet from the Les Cerisiers restaurant…

In Le Grand-Bornand, at the foot of the Envers ski slope, "L'Esperluette" is the latest “arty” address in Le Grand-Bornand. Set in an ancient hayloft, it offers a terrace with panoramic views, where you can enjoy grills, local dishes and locally-created drinks.

In l’Alpe d'Huez, the L’Empreinte restaurant, run by a young couple, welcomes gourmet diners in a cosy yet contemporary setting. You will enjoy dishes freshly made in-house from mainly locally-sourced produce.

In Le Mont-Dore, there is a ‘gourmet bistro’ feel to the “Les Fées Mères” restaurant. It proposes a creative, quality cuisine, using fresh, local and seasonal produce. Signature dishes appear regularly on the menu, together with the “Grande et Petite Table” fixed-price menus which change every week for the delight of gourmet diners!

Well-being:

5 new addresses that will do you good

In Les Angles, the new aquatic and balneotherapy centre Angléo is to open this winter. On offer in this new Pyrenean well-being facility will be: a quiet pool, swan’s neck swims, water cannons, luminotherapy, hammams, saunas, salt grotto, solarium, outside pool with whirlpool, spa centre with massage rooms, herbal tea room…

In Saint-Gervais, the thermal spa has been totally renovated.  The new building tells the story of the spa water’s journey; from the Mont Blanc mountain summits, it disappears into the entrails of the earth, to finally reappear in the Saint-Gervais thermal springs. New facilities including outdoor pools allow users to enjoy the naturally warm and health-giving waters in an exceptionally beautiful setting. In the atrium, a spectacular and sensorial scenography is planned, to further enhance the pool that is installed under the light well.

In La Plagne, the all-new thermal baths and spa complex covers 1,500m² and offers adults and children alike a cocoon of gentleness from the Deep Nature label. Of special note are the outdoor aquatic trails where the water is a warm 35°; the many remineralisation, relaxation and toning activities; and the 6 massage cabins.

In Valmeinier, the Le Grand Fourchon holiday village has a new Spa, to be equipped with a hammam and a jacuzzi.  It will offer a range of tea-based care treatments from the Thémaé label.

This winter at the Balnéa centre, very close to Peyragudes, you can bathe to music under the stars! For 15 minutes you can lie in the water and marvel at the magical images projected on to the vault of the music pool. From sunset to sunrise, from the milky way to shooting stars, a whole universe of serenity will unfold before your eyes. And all set to music.
