10 good reasons to go skiing in France

The world’s largest ski area
Equipped with fast, modern equipment, the French ski area boasts a unique characteristic: its internationally renowned, vast, interconnected ski domains. The largest extends across 600 kilometres of runs, with 200 ski lifts you can ski straight up to, all accessible with a single pass.

Excellent value
On average, the price of a ski pass is 15% lower than in other countries. From the number of ‘low cost’ flights serving the destination to the constantly improving quality of the accommodation, the French mountains offer excellent value at one of the world’s top destinations for winter sports.

France’s charm and diversity
The French mountains extend over 5 massifs, which means we offer genuine diversity: low, medium or high altitude, small or large interconnected ski areas, modern or charming village resorts, each one with its own character and atmosphere… and let’s not forget the magical, spectacular landscapes you can enjoy to your heart’s content…

“Doorstep” ski resorts
This is a real French specialty which allows you to make the most of your time. The majority of French resorts offer a range of services including ski lifts, equipment rental, restaurants, sports and leisure shops and childcare facilities within walking distance.

Gastronomy and art de vivre
Staying in a French resort is also an opportunity to discover French gastronomy and art de vivre. Our mountain cuisine is simple, rustic and perfect for sharing… Today, new generations of chefs are dedicating their talents to creating sophisticated delicacies, some even providing Michelin-starred haute cuisine. A must-taste experience!

“Après-ski” and night life
In France, we like to take time to wander through the resort, discovering local art and shopping for French fashion, which really needs no introduction...
Come nightfall, a buzzing nightlife awaits: restaurants, bars, casinos, clubs, concerts, festivals…something for everyone!

A wide range of accommodation to suit all budgets
France also boasts a wide selection of accommodation to suit all tastes and all budgets. Hotels, apartments, holiday residences, traditional chalets, guest houses…from year to year, our offers are always changing to meet the needs of our visitors. From cozy and comfortable to the total luxury of a 5 star hotel; for a holiday as a couple or with friends or family, there is a type of accommodation to meet the needs of each of our guests.

Excellent snow and snow sports conditions
The ski season is exceptionally long, with some ski areas open between mid November and mid May. The use of 100% natural cultured snow guarantees the quality of snow conditions. As our ski areas are mostly situated in southern France, they also enjoy pleasant climates and generous amounts of sunshine.

Skiers and non skiers welcome
Whatever your ability, whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced free-rider, alpine skier or snowboarder, there is an area where you can enjoy your favourite sport in complete safety.
Our resorts are also a paradise for non skiers, with a huge number of available alternatives to skiing: snowshoeing, dog-sledding, tobogganing, walks out in the heart of nature and a whole range of cultural excursions and outings.

We love families
Parents and children are given a warm welcome in all of our resorts. Those most suited to accommodate families are grouped together under the “Famille Plus Montagne” label, a unique national tourism standard under which resorts are required to meet up to 110 different criteria.
