If you dream of immersing yourself in the silent landscape of the mountains, communing with the natural world, practicing an activity adapted to all ages and all activity levels, cross-country skiing and nordic activities are for you. You will go home revived and transformed.

If you dream of immersing yourself in the silent landscape of the mountains, communing with the natural world, practicing an activity adapted to all ages and all activity levels, cross-country skiing and nordic activities are for you. You will go home revived and transformed.

Among the most celebrated and most popular nordic sports, brought into the spotlight by champions such as Jason Lamy-Chapuis, Vincent Jay and Marie Laure Brunet, cross-country skiing is a sport of many virtues, to practice alone or in a group.  On well-marked, groomed trails, it can be like a walk in the park : moving at your own rhythm, it is the perfect way to discover the great outdoors, far from urban landscapes and mechanical chairlifts.  The only sound to break the silence is that of the skis gliding over the snow.  One is immersed in the peaceful silence of the mountains.  A more dynamic practice, skate-skiing provides the strong sensations of speed.  Cross-country skiing can therefore be enjoyed for its simplicity, or as a progressive step towards the mastery of a complex technique combined with a strong physical effort.  Taking a deep breath of pure mountain air is a genuine pleasure.  And who knows, once you catch the cross-country skiing bug, you may wish to participate in the legendary gatherings such as the Foulée Blanche (in the Vercours, a paradise for cross-country skiers), the Grande Traversée du Vercours, or the Transjurassienne, which reunites amateurs of all levels and all ages.

The nordic disciples also exist in other forms.  Snowshoeing, for example, offers the possibility to discover the untouched landscapes of the mountains, far from the beaten path.  Away from the marked trails (accompanied if possible, for security reasons,) one can hike into an infinite open space and discover nature from close up, in its most pristine form.  Finally, an even more original possibility, dogsledding provides an incomparable sensation.  An authentic and extraordinary method of transportation, dogsledding is an unforgettable experience for the family.  After an initiation you can take the reins and steer your pack through the forest, along untouched natural trails or through the snow covered open spaces which appear before your eyes.  Warm and cozy under their blankets, the children will love it !  And from the age of eight, they can take the reins themselves.  Pure bliss.
