If you are looking for new sensations, a different contact with the snow and want to challenge your balance, then snowboarding is for you!

A booming sport

Snowboarding comes from a mixture of two sports:skiing, which is very popular in Scandinavian countries, and surfing, popular in the island of Hawaii. It became a sport in its own right from the second half of the 20th century, and since then has been enriched with new techniques and disciplines.

Your first time sliding?

Before anything else, the first step is to decide your position on the snowboard in order to choose your equipment.Standing sideways, the foot that you put at the front of your board is your leading foot.If you place your left foot forward, you adopt the “regular” position. If on the other hand, it is your right foot that you put at the front of the snowboard, you are considered to be in a “goofy” position. This stage is essential as it conditions your riding and choice of board. The next stage is to get riding! The techniques you use on the slopes and how you turn depend on your preference -using your torso or by moving your weight onto a leg; it’s up to you to try!

Do your own thing

Beginners and expert boarders co-exist on the slopes of the French resorts. For a first contact with the sport, beginners can choose different options:  solo, with friends or accompanied by a qualified instructor, but the most important thing is to enjoy yourself. Experts, for their part, can enjoy the pleasures of sliding on the wide variety of slopes and obstacles offered by the French skiing domains. Snowboarding has evolved over the years, and some might even be tempted by styles such as freeride or freestyle to discover new sensations. It’s up to you to choose!
