2016 Family

Family holidays don’t have to be a headache! Knowing how complicated holidaying with children can be, every year our resorts introduce new initiatives to make family life simpler. Here are just a few examples.

10% off ski passes

One of the many promises made by resorts bearing the Family Plus label is that they all offer discounted ski passes for families (10% off for 2 adults and 2 children). But that’s not all: the label takes things a step further with free ski passes for the under 6s, welcome guides for families, entertainment and activities adapted to suit all ages, label-approved accommodation providers and restaurants, nurseries for the over 3s (and even from the age of 3 months), toboggan runs… Discover Famille Plus resorts.

Childcare and ski school packages, including supervision to and from lessons

In some resorts, French Ski School (ESF) instructors accompany children on their journey from nursery to ski school. That’s the case in Albiez Montrond, Combloux, Gérardmer, Les 2 Alpes, Les Houches, Praloup, Saint Lary, Saint Gervais, Le Sauze, Val d’Isère, Valberg, Val Cenis, and Villard de Lans. A lunchtime meal is sometimes included in the package.

Certain ski schools also make life easier by picking your children up from right outside your residence! In Val Thorens, 2 instructors accompany children enrolled in 1st star group skiing lessons from the MMV Les Arolles, Club Med and Les Balcons residences. In Alpe d’Huez, Corrençon, Saint-Lary, Orcières and Montgenèvre for example, free shuttle buses run from accommodation to the foot of the slopes. In Les 2 Alpes and Les Menuires, the French Ski School (ESF) provides a minibus pick-up for children enrolled in ski school who are staying farther away.

Childcare kits available for parents

Finding it hard to fit a pushchair, cot, toys and bottle warmer in your suitcase? In Alpe d’Huez, the WIKIZI concierge service hires out childcare kits for delivery on the day you arrive. In Val Thorens, bebekidslocation have 3-wheeler pushchairs, cots, bottle-warmers, cold weather snowsuits for 3 to 18 month year olds available to hire, and also provide nappies, baby-wipes, baby bottles, dummies… Find out more, as many other resorts and accommodation hosts offer the same kind of service!

Ski passes for accompanying parents

If you don’t ski but still want to accompany your kids to the foot of the slopes, Châtel and Saint Gervais have thought of you too! The resorts’ ski kindergarten and French Ski School (ESF) meeting points are all located on the slopes, so both resorts offer accompanying parental lift passes at a really competitive price!

Families receive the warmest of welcomes here

Whether at the Tourist Office, in a restaurant or your accommodation, extra special attention is paid to families! Take Le Grand-Bornand for example; every Saturday in the school holidays the Tourist Office sets up a “craft corner”. This supervised play area means children can have fun whilst their parents get all the information they need, and can buy their ski passes at the same time. In Sauze, children are welcomed daily after skiing to play games or take part in free workshops for an hour and a half every evening. Photo : jardin des neiges des 2 Alpes - B.LONGO
