2024 Printemps des Montagnes

Need a spring break? Why not head for the mountains, where spring offers endless possibilities in terms of activities, rejuvenation, nature and festivities.

Enjoy spring skiing

You may not know it, but you can ski until ... May 4 at Val Thorens. Yes, the ski season isn't over yet. What's more, the snow is back on the summits at the beginning of the month, providing a little extra cover for April holidaymakers and spring weekend afficionados. Sun, fun, good snow and fewer people - that's what's in store for spring skiing. It's also the perfect time to take advantage of great deals on learning to ski with the Printemps des Montagnes offers. On the ski side, you can also take advantage of the opportunity to go ski touring, accompanied, to discover wild valleys or spend your first night in a guarded refuge. In spring, refuges reopen their doors to welcome hikers. Find out where to ski until April/May.

Head to the resorts to enjoy an end-of-season program packed with events and festive activities. Beautiful panoramas, music, long evenings... Like Tignes and its Spring Break from April 19 to May 4, 2025. The end of the ski season takes place in Val Thorens for the Grande Dernière on May 4, with a “take off your skis” sporting event, and a host of other activities including waterslides and towed buoys.

Taking the time to discover the mountains and their assets

Echoing the idea of slow tourism, spring in the mountains is the ideal time to take your time. Patience is the watchword if you want to catch a glimpse of the animals that are gradually coming out of hibernation. To find out more, let yourself be guided by a mountain guide, as in Oz-en-Oisans. We love going for walks, hiking and strolling to see the first crocuses appear alongside the last patches of snow melting at the bottom of the resort. It's also the perfect time to meet the people who live in the resorts and discover their trades, know-how and traditions.

Take a wellness break in a mountain spa

Spring also means the opening of the thermal baths. And in the mountains, with their top-quality waters, there are a multitude of ways to recharge your batteries at spa resorts. In the Pyrenees, you can indulge in the Bains du Rocher in Cauterets or the Thermes du Teich in Ax-les-Thermes. On the Massif Central side, at an altitude of 1050 m, the Mont Dore spa, with its neo-Byzantine style, is a listed historic monument. And let's not forget the thermal baths at Brides-les-Bains and Monêtier les Bains next to Serre-Chevalier, facing the mountains and with their feet in the water.

Fill up on new activities

Fat bikes, tyroliennes with bends, toboggans on rails... what if spring in the mountains was an opportunity to try out new sensations? If you're an adrenaline junkie, there's plenty on offer in the resort. Try your hand at fat biking on big tires in the snow or on the trails, thanks to electric assistance. You can be surprised on a 4-season toboggan, with its woops and tight bends, as at Les Angles in the Pyrenees, or on a zip line, head first or feet in the air, at Val Thorens or La Colmiane (open weekends and vacations). You can also (re)bring your bike, whether road, mountain or electrically assisted. The mountain passes are cleared of snow in May, and as spring progresses, the snow melts from the trails. In addition to these activities, the possibilities in the mountains in spring are endless: trail running, via ferrata, via souterrata, climbing, horse riding, caving, etc.
