Go hiking in the mountains at La Grave on 14th July and 14th August (Hautes-Alpes)

The general public can discover the majestic nature of the high mountains with mountain guides.The programme includesfun activities, games for youngsters (from 6 years) and “discovery walks” for the older ones.All at affordable prices :20 euros for adults (including the return trip by cable-car, a meal and a visit to the ice grotto), 10 euros for 12-18 year olds, free for under 12s.Equipment is provided on http://www.guidelagrave.com/faitesdelamontagne/

Woodcutters’ festival on 22nd July at Mijoux (Jura)

The Woodcutters’ Festival is always a big success! Numerous craftsmen are present and activities take place throughout the day, which ends with the not-to-be-missed country meal complete with musical entertainment.

The World of Morzna, at Morzine from 25th to 27th July (Haute-Savoie)

Morzine is transformed into a village inhabited by elves, witches, fairies and other fantasy beings.Parents and children can make magical puppets, listen to bewitching fairy tales at the “bookseller” and learn the Morzna language and its traditions…

Summit games at Auron from 26th to 30th July (Alpes-Maritimes)

The ski resort of Auron organises its 5th festival dedicated to all kinds of games - newreleases, wooden games, old games, board games to play together or on your own, skill games and mind games…all at the Espace Rovery from 3pm to 9pm.

Horse festival on 5th and 6th August at Val d’Allos (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence)

The horsemen of the Licorne (unicorn), the Voltéo group or the Démons de l’Extrême (the Extreme Demons) will showcase the horse in all its forms.The programme includeshorse-drawn carriage rides, amateur horse riding contests, blessings of horses, skijoring, horse teams…

28th Festival of Astronomy in the Haute-Maurienne/Vanoise from 11th to 17th August (Savoie)

The 2nd “Ronde des vélos” (Cycling festival) at Saint-Lary from 16th – 21st July (Hautes-Pyrénées)

Saint-Lary Soulain invites young and old to discover all types of cycling.The programme includescyclo-tourist rides to the most beautiful passes in the area, mountain biking activities with demonstrations of freestyle and scrambling, accompanied trail outings…  In the evening there will beconferences with famous cyclists, concerts, dances, night-time entertainment…

Meet the shepherds at Bess-en-Oisans (Isère)

Orientation weekend at Avoriaz on 1st and 2nd September (Haute-Savoie)

The aim is to discover the most markers in a 4-5 hour period (2 €).A one-day trek - also accessible to all - is open to teams of two (32 € per team).Finally, the Original Mountain Marathon for experienced hikers and orienteerstakes place over two days (with bivouac) also in teams of two (56 € per team).
